Privacy Policy

What Cipher Cove collects (usage statistics), what it never collects (the text you translate), and your choices.

Last updated: 2026-10-03

The short version

The translators and charts on Cipher Cove run entirely in your browser. The text you type, the Morse audio you play or download, and the images you save are created on your device and are never sent to us. The only data we receive is usage statistics from Google Analytics and Cloudflare, described below.

Who we are

Cipher Cove (ciphercove.com) is run by an independent developer in the United States. For anything in this policy, email contact@ciphercove.com.

What we do not collect

  • We do not ask you to create an account, and there is no login. Using the tools never requires your name or email address.
  • We do not receive, log or store anything you enter into a translator.
  • We do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising.
  • If you email us, we receive your email address and your message, and use them only to reply.

Hosting and server logs

The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes standard request data (such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse, under Cloudflare's privacy policy. We do not use this data to identify you.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages are visited, roughly where visitors come from, and how the site performs. It records page views and basic interactions, not the text you type into a translator, and Google Analytics 4 does not store IP addresses. Data tied to a browser's identifier is kept for no longer than 14 months after that browser's last visit; aggregated reports, which do not identify anyone, are kept longer.

Google Analytics sets two cookies, _ga and _ga_ETBZBC49B1, which tell visits apart with a random, pseudonymous ID and last up to 2 years. For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google Analytics runs in a mode that sets no cookies.

Our host, Cloudflare, also adds its Web Analytics script to the site, which measures page loads and performance without cookies and without tracking individual visitors (Cloudflare Web Analytics).

Blocking cookies stops Google Analytics from recognizing repeat visits, but it may still count page views without them. To stop it completely, use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on or a content blocker. Google explains how it uses this data in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Advertising

We do not show ads at the moment. If we add advertising, we will update this policy before any ads appear.

Your choices and rights

  • Cookies: you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and every translator keeps working. The site sets no cookies of its own; the Google Analytics cookies are described above.
  • Theme: your light or dark theme choice is stored only in your browser's local storage and never sent to us.
  • Access and deletion: depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA in California), you may have the right to know what personal data we hold about you and to ask us to delete it. Because using the tools does not require a name or email and we never receive translator text, we usually hold nothing that identifies you, apart from any email you have sent us. We will answer every request.

To make a request, email contact@ciphercove.com with "Privacy" in the subject line. We respond within 30 days.

Children

Cipher Cove is a general-audience reference site. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, we update the date at the top of this page.
