Fun things to try

  • Find palindromes: type your name and see whether it reads the same both ways.
  • Make a secret note: reversed text looks like nonsense at a glance.
  • Hide a spoiler: reverse the answer to a riddle, so it does not catch the eye.
  • Mix codes: reverse a message, then put it through the Caesar cipher for something harder to crack.

For a flipped look, try the upside down text generator. To send a coded note a friend has to solve, use the secret message maker.

Frequently asked questions

How do I reverse text?

Type or paste it in the box, and the reversed version appears at the top of the list. Press Copy to use it anywhere. To turn reversed text back, paste it in again.

Does it keep emoji and accents?

Yes for most characters: single emoji and accented letters stay whole. Emoji built from several parts, such as family or flag emoji, can come apart when reversed.

What is a palindrome?

A palindrome reads the same in both directions, such as "level" or "racecar". Paste a word in the box to test one. Whole sentences work too if you ignore spaces and punctuation, as in "never odd or even".

Is backwards writing a real code?

It hides nothing from a careful reader, but it is a real tradition. Leonardo da Vinci filled his notebooks with mirror writing, running from right to left.
